Recent Progresses in Optical Code-Division Multiple-Access (OCDMA) Technology

The recent growth of broadband access services and the need for high speed and large capacity access networks have driven the development of Optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) for next-generation broadband access networks. OCDMA is a promising technology for addressing the bandwidth and flexibility demands of local area and access networks. Statistical multiplexing, service differentiation, asynchronous operation, flexible allocation of channels, fairness, and enhanced data privacy are some of the attractive advantages of OCDMA that make it a current forefront topic of research. This special issue focuses on the OCDMA technology and its applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:1. New OCDMA coding sequences and constructions.
2. New design of OCDMA detection techniques.
3. OCDMA-enabled network architectures and topologies.
4. Analysis of OCDMA system performance improvements.
5. OCDMA applications and its core technologies.
6. Key issues affecting the use of OCDMA for privacy.
7. Comparison of OCDMA with other optical-based multiple-access technologies.
